Reflections on the first and second trimesters.. (27 weeks)

As I cautiously enter the third trimester, I have started to reflect back on the previous two trimesters.

Honestly, my first trimester was pretty perfect in regards to physical symptoms.  I was rarely nauseous and my main annoyance was the fact that I needed to pee like crazy (though nothing compared to the frequency I pee now...).  I was also extremely exhausted and spent many vaca days sleeping.
The other major thing I noticed was that my cute underwear no longer fit comfortably and I had to switch over to the "granny panties".

There was some minor cramping while my body began to stretch, but other than that, it was pretty easy going.

Psychologically and emotionally, it was super stressful.  A lot was changing for me and I genuinely feared miscarriage.  I didn't feel pregnant and that scared me.  I was scared of detachment from the baby in many ways.  Also, other than this blog and my journals, I had nothing the occupy my mind other than counting down the days till the next week.  And did I mention I was tired?  This definitely didn't help.

Second trimester was better, though.  I got my cute lil bump, got to see Nat for the first time, got to find out we were having a lil boy, and began shopping.  I was less tired and had more information so that I could obsess at the Nat in what I viewed was a healthier way.

My anxiety and stress lessened a lot after finding out I was having a son.  I was able to relax and become more fixated on my son instead of all the unknowns.  Symptoms were minimal.  I started to feel my son move which reduced most of my major fears.

27 Weeks

And now I'm even closer to the end, to having a son to snuggle with.  I hope the third trimester is good to me and that all goes well as we get closer to D-day.  Less than three months left!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving - Happy Holidays! (26 Weeks)

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving, to those who celebrate.  We went to Amesbury, MA this year to visit with the Webster/Lobley/Seeley clan.  The food and company were absolutely terrific.

And the 26 week bump...

25 Weeks - And a cute story

Nathaniel has been getting more and more wiggly as of late.  Everything was great at my 25 weeks appointment, though my nurse practitioner, Lyndsay did mention that my uterus is growing a little weird, but not abnormally.  They can find the fundus easily, but she said my uterus was very soft and growing wide vs growing horizontally.  Again, nothing to be concerned with though.

They did decide though that at my next appointment, 28 weeks - November 29th, that I should have another ultrasound, just to check on my cervix.  I don't know if I mentioned this previously, but in 07, I had a LEEP done due to some cancerous cervical cells.  No biggie, but it can cause problems with your cervix in future pregnancies (small percentage).  Here's a site that can tell you more about the procedure and how it can affect pregnancy.  So stay tuned for more cute ultrasound pics!

Now for the cute story: Because I've been feeling Nathaniel more and more, I decided one night to check to see if could feel him on the outside.  Sure enough, I felt a gentle tap on my hand.  I was extremely excited because I've been waiting for this moment so that Nate could feel his son move.  So I grabbed Nate's hand and jammed it down on my lower belly.  We waited, and while I could feel Nathaniel moving around inside, he wasn't really kicking, so Nate couldn't feel it.  So we waited and waited, and finally I asked if he felt anything.  Nate said no not yet.  Then he said "oh was that something?" right after Nathaniel kicked.  I got excited and was just about to say yes, when Nathaniel pulled back his leg or fist and slammed me hard.  So hard that I jumped.  Nate's response, "I definitely felt that!"  Ow....

Surprises from my Mom!

So after dropping Em off in Augusta this Friday, Mom had us stop by to give us some stuff.  Apparently, she was running out of room =)  Here are some of the beautiful items she got/made for Nathaniel James!!

I love this!  Mom made it as Nathaniel's first wall decoration <3

The snow suit is SOOO snuggly!

My mother is amazingly crafty.  She also made a wall hanging that I don't have a picture of yet, but I will upload soon.  I wish I was more crafty!!!

24 Weeks - Where did time go?

Well, it's happened.  In the next few weeks, I may officially be finding out what it's like to have an outie.

I have always had a super innie belly button, so I find it very amusing that I can actually clearly see the inside of my belly button from the outside.

I've finally decided on making a scrapbook of my pregnancy.  I've always wanted to scrapbook but never really had a reason.  Currently, I'm working on a secret project for Em, but I won't post that here until I'm done =)  To chronicle my pregnancy, I decided on this album as I love the french memo board front.
I'll take a better picture of it later, but can you believe I could not find a stock photo for this???
Anyways, I also got this little kit of embellishments, paper, etc to do the inside with!
I'm pretty excited to get a chance to put this all together and will go ahead and take some great pictures (with the good camera, in good light) once I've completed it.

Other than that, nothing has really changed much.  Starting to experience some insomnia.  Waking up at 3:30am with a litany of issues.  Hungry.  Have to pee.  Back hurts.  Even if I attend to each one, I still spend a lot of time tossing and turning before I fall back to sleep.  Hopefully this passes, though I hear it's probably only going to get worse =P

And here are some bump pics!!

Also: Did I ever mention that I signed up for Birth classes?  My first birth class is a breastfeeding class set up for January 4th for 2 hours at the local hospital.  Then my second all day birth class is on a Saturday, January 7th.  I'll tour the hospital and get a better idea of what I will be expecting during labor!  I'm super excited!

23 weeks!

Here's a 23 week and 3 days bump picture:

The last week has been slightly stressful.  Saturday, we were forced to purchase a new vehicle which, now that it's all done and taken care of, is definitely a wonderful thing.  But the process of buying a vehicle is super stressful.  But we did well and came out of everything with a cute 2009 Kia Optima.  I drive a 2008 Toyota Yaris which is definitely great on gas, but not the best family car.  The Optima is definitely larger and more family friendly.

Work has also delayed my schedule change... again.  I'm definitely getting more and more tired, which makes work difficult.  I'm going in for some blood tests next week (including the GD testing), and honestly, I'm almost hoping they do find out I'm anemic, because that to me is a better answer than "Well, you are pregnant" as being a reason for tired.

Onto happier subjects though: Halloween was a blast!  Even though it was raining, we had a nice little window where we got to trick or treat without getting too wet.  Nate and I did not dress up and while Em's Sailor Moon costume didn't show up in time, she did make a pretty cute Zebra!  Here are some cute pictures of my daughter and my Bumble Bean!
