18 weeks and 3 Days - Autumn is here! Brrr....

It was like it happened overnight.  One minute it was nice and warm; the next, that chilling crisp autumn air that makes you think of warm apple cider, hot apple crisp topped with melting vanilla ice cream, warm apple cider donuts right out of the microwave, pumpkin swirl bread, oooh and venti pumpkin spice lattes....

Sorry about that... got a little carried away, and to top it all off, I can't have half of that!  Grrrrrr.

Well there is some solace here, we have perfected a gluten-free apple crisp here at my house AND I ordered some cinnamon swirl bread and cinnamon donuts from KATZ last night.  I've never ordered from them before, but they had a great selection of exciting new gluten free tries.  I'm pretty excited to see what I end up getting...

Also, my friend MB told me that you can ask for pumpkin swirl lattes caffeine-free from Starbucks!  Too bad there isn't one on my way to work though...  Decaf pumpkin spice coffee with vanilla coffee mate it is!

At the end of last week and into this week, I started battling another cold/sinus infection that had crawled deep into my lungs and was hanging out there.  They could hear fluid in my lungs and could hear me wheezing.  Whether it was a nasty cold, pneumonia, bronchitis, or a lung infection, the medicine was the same: Z-pack.  So in lieu of doing a scary, potentially harmful chest x-ray, I was put to bed with a Z-pack and Robitussin.

And thus, for a week, I became a kitty bed.  To be honest, he's very comforting and very warm...

I've started to look at birth classes, but honestly, it's really stressful.  First, you are suppose to do it in your eight month of pregnancy, which for me would be January 2013, but they don't have a calendar up for the class yet.  Secondly, it looks like we are going to have to cram in five weeks of birth classes into one all day Saturday class.  I hope they go over all the same info and that it is not too overwhelming.  We just can't go Wednesday nights.  That's our time to spend with Em!!!  So anyways, I'll have to contact the hospital and see if they have anything scheduled yet for January, and if so, if I can sign up.

Friday is the anatomy scan!  I'm so excited.  At 11am, we will be just getting ready to find out if it will be a boy or girl.  We are going to video tape it to share with the family =)

And lastly, here are some pictures!!!

I'm running on empty this A.M.!

One of my new maternity long sleeve shirts!

Still can't tell from this angle!

17 weeks, 4 days! New design and stuff

So I officially turned 28 on September 14th!

And I also officially woke up this week with ANOTHER sinus infection/cold.  I know that pregnancy is suppose to up your mucus counts due to increased blood flow, but come on.  This time, I have more of a cough than a sore throat.  My face feels like it's on fire vs having a killer headache.

But I suspect I shall survive.

Last week was my 16 week appointment.  I had lost 3lbs, which they weren't incredibly happy about, but everything seemed healthy otherwise.  Baby's heartbeat was 153, and I definitely have popped some more!

I also got to meet the new doctor at the practice.  He was ok... I still would prefer Smith to deliver my baby.  Unfortunately, I found out that I have to deliver at EMMC because St. Joseph's, yah know the catholic hospital, doesn't have a maternity wing.  Seriously?!  Apparently, even if I were to have a complication and need to go straight to the hospital, I would not be able to go to St. Joe's.  They would have me transfered to EMMC.  My bff and former roomie, Brian, worked at EMMC for like four years and despised not only that hospital but mainly the maternity wing.  I have surgeries there and haven't been all that impressed.  But maybe, just maybe, the maternity wing will end up fine.  No point in worrying about it... there's no where else to deliver.

Onto good news!!!!!!  September 28th is the anatomy scan!!!  SQUEE!!  They said they might not see everything they want to see, and if this is the case, they will have me come back later, but they should at least be able to tell me if it's a boy or girl!  So many people who aren't as far along as I am already know what the sex of the baby is and it's driving me insane!!!

The Start of a Nursery...

So this past weekend, Nate and I began to work on the nursery.  Which really just means we put together the crib, but HEY, it's a start.

Here are some beginning pictures:

Davinci Parker 4 in 1 Crib with trundle

Came with a free 150 coil spring mattress!  Awesome Amazon sale!

And purchased for me by my mother!

I got these at Tj Maxx for $6.00

The melody bear for the baby Webling that Gigi bought!

Gigi bought the bear blanket.  Underneath is the afghan my Taunte (french for Aunt) made for me when I was a baby!

A bunch of free stuff I've acquired: samples to items from a friend who recently had a baby.

The baby's closet with the clothes that Gigi bought, plus on the top shelf are the sling,  carseat canopy, and breast feeding cover that I got for free (see previous post about free stuff).

16 weeks and 5 days - Baby, what are you!?

A lot has happened in a week while not much has really happened.  First, I took advantage of Motherhood Maternity 30% off sale and got a gorgeous maternity dress for 20 bucks (that included shipping)!

Sept 6th, 15 weeks 5 days.

Sept 11th, 16 weeks 4 days
Sept 11th, 16 weeks 4 days

I absolutely LOVE this dress!  It's beautiful.  It's a gray maxi dress with a small belt that definitely accentuates the baby bump.  Normally, it's 39.99 but on sale for 29.99 and with 30% off and free shipping, I got an amazing deal!

Nate and I have begun to start stock piling certain items.  Last week, I got 234, size 1 swaddlers Pampers for 35.00 which is pretty cheap.  Pampers has a great rewards program called "Gifts to Grow".  Basically, whenever you purchase a Pampers product, it comes with a special code that you enter in and get points on.  Those points can be used to purchase rewards off of their website.  As most of you know, I'm already part of the Disney Movie Rewards Club, and by saving my points was able to get a 90 dollar Baby Einstein 2 in 1 jumper for free!  In the economy size box of 234 diapers, you get three codes to enter, which is about 108 points.  We won't be buying a lot of size 1 diapers, mostly size 2 and 3, since the babe with spend more time in those, but it's a great way to help budget the diaper expenses. Another plus, is that I order them from Amazon.  Now, I have Amazon Prime which automatically means I have Amazon Mom.  So when I buy diapers on Amazon, I get a 15% discount on the diapers, and then for subscribing to them, I got an additional 5% discount.  Pretty neat, huh?

I also was shopping on craigslist and found a perfect condition, only used for two months, Medella in style advance breast pump (backpack style) for $150.  Now some of you may be cringing thinking "A USED BREAST PUMP?!" but it's not as gross as it sounds.  In fact, it's not gross at all.  This pump is normally priced at $300 and you are mainly paying for the electric pump.  All the "personal parts" are disposable and can be replaced by purchasing the accessory kit.  You can pick this up on Amazon for about 23 dollars.  This includes bottles, the tubing, the horns, etc.  Basically anything that would have touched the body or had any fluids in it.  So I pretty much just paid for an electronic pump in a backpack.  It also came with a cooler with a form fitting bottle ice pack for transport.  The other great aspect of this pump is that it's a double pump with a battery pack, in case you don't have access to electricity and need to pump.  This used pump came with it's box, all the packaging, and all the instruction manuals.  It was a really great find!

And lastly, here's a picture of the bump!
I'm definitely popping... and popping fast!

BUT THE BEST PART OF THIS WEEK:  I felt the baby ROLL in my belly!  IT WAS AMAZING!  IT felt like there was a ball literally rolling in my belly.  It was both nauseating and wonderful.  Imagine a pingpong ball rolling in your belly.  It almost feels like the swish of the ocean inside and kinda makes you feel sea sick.  I love you, Baby!  I just wish I knew what you were so I could name you!!!

Gluten-Free, Pregnancy, and Weight Gain

When I first found out I was pregnant, one of my major concerns (as many women worry) was "How much weight am I going to gain?"  As you know, I lost a bunch of weight when I was diagnosed with Celiac's and switched my diet to a gluten free one.

One of the blessings of being on a gluten free diet (and needing to be on one!) is that most of the foods I eat, do not pack on the pounds for me.  Even though most of my foods are higher in fat and sugar, my body/metabolism seems to chemically break down these easily.

As of June 12th, I was down from a 170lbs to 127.8lbs.

Now as of September 5th, I've found that my appetite has increased.  My husband and I rarely have leftovers unless we make enough TO have leftovers when before, I'd eat half a plate and be done.  Now, I have at least two or three plates worth of food.  I snack daily, take my prenatals, and my Zoloft.

I try to stay away from anything with gluten in it, of course, though there have been a few more slip ups than normal.  It's just so hard to say no when work brings in tons of food, that I can't eat, while being pregnant!!  But even with the few slip ups, I weighed in at 134.6lbs today.

At nearly 16 weeks, putting on a total of 7lbs is not bad.  I also feel better knowing that because of my diet, I know I will drop any baby weight that I do gain.  So far, most of my weight has been put on in the belly which is good (vs all over) but also makes me nervous because I feel more like a pot belly pig than a pregnant woman =)

My main diet consists of 3 to 4 cups of fruits and veggies a day, 4 servings of protien, 1 to 2 cups of dairy, 3 to 4 cups of carbs/grains.  For example, my lunch today is:

- Greek salad with feta and greek olives
-  Home made Chili
- A peach
- An Apple
- A string cheese stick
- A gluten free Udi's blueberry Muffin

Yesterday, I had:
- Home made gluten-free apple crisp
- Home made gluten-free mac and cheese
- 2 bowls of Trix
- A peach
- An apple
- 1 bowl of home made chili (red kidney beans, hamburg, whole tomatoes, green and red peppers)
- potato salad
- Sour patch kids =)

I feel this keeps me pretty full and less likely to get hungry/nauseous during the day!  Have a fantastic Wednesday everyone!

Surprise! Lets skip ahead a week to 15 weeks 4 days!

So yesterday, I got a little surprise.  I called my doctor to find out a little more info about my headaches.  They have started to get bad again, and my nose is starting to get stuffy and sore again =/  While on the phone, I got permission to change my tylenol dosage to 1000mgs every 8 hours and that I could now take sudafed where I am in the second trimester.  Along with the nettie pot, saline solutions, sleep, water, and peppermint oil, I should find some relief.

While on the phone, I asked about my Ultrascreen results.  Everything came back perfect (YAY), but they did decide to make it official.  Based on the measurement from crown to rump, I'm actually 15 weeks 4 days which changes the due date to Feb 23rd, 2013!

So my next appointment is Sept 14th (My 28th birthday!) and at that appointment, we will be scheduling the anatomy scan!  I can't wait to find out what my baby is!  Ready to start taking some guesses!!!!

I did speak to my boss about changing my schedule.  Probably won't be till October, which is fine, since I already have my Fridays in Sept booked, as well as the first weekend in October.  Still hoping that they will be hiring for SAR soon.

I can still kinda hide it...

Getting round!!!!
